The knitter,s toolbox was the knitting basket. The tools to feed a family were sticks, needles and scissors. The knitting basket was often a gift for confirmation, betrothal or wedding.
The picture shows a knitting basket with engraved tulips from Selbu Village Museum. «Tulipanskurd» (tulip engraving) was a decoration method in which the wood was painted black and the decoration was created by cutting out light, wooden lines.
